Assistant professor
Meredith D. Clark is an assistant professor in the Department of Media Studies at the University of Virginia. Clark’s research, which focuses on the intersections of race, media and power, is informed by her experience in the newsroom. She has worked as a copy editor, reporter, editorial board member and columnist, and a section editor at newspapers, including The Tallahassee Democrat and Raleigh (North Carolina) News & Observer. A graduate of UNC Chapel Hill’s School of Media & Journalism, she holds a Ph.D. in mass communication, as well as bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Florida A&M University. Her work has been published in academic and popular press outlets, including New Media & Society, the Journal of Social Media in Society, The Dallas Morning News and on Poynter.org.
